Migrate Art presents ‘Scorched Earth’ a charity auction and exhibition of new works by leading artists, organised in direct response to the widespread deliberate destruction of crop fields in Iraq. The participating artists have created new works using paint pigmented with ash collected by Migrate Art from land scorched by these fires.

AL jazeera: UN - Nearly 80 million people forcibly displaced worldwide

Nearly 80 million people were forcibly displaced worldwide by the end of last year as a result of conflict, violence, persecution and human rights violations, according to the United Nations.

Ahead of World Refugee Day on June 20, the UN refugee agency, UNHCR, released its annual report on displacement on Thursday, which showed an estimated 11 million more people fled their homes in 2019, almost doubling the total figure over the past decade.

DAILY MAIL: Child genocide survivor quits job to help ISIS survivors in Kurdistan

A child genocide survivor whose family narrowly escaped being killed by Saddam Hussein’s regime has revealed how she left her high-flying job in London to help those she left behind. 

Taban Shoresh, 36, who lives in London but is originally from Erbil, Kurdistan region of Iraq, built a successful career for herself at an Investment Asset Management firm after fleeing to the UK. 

Whilst raising her son, she began to feel guilty about the suffering of those still in the region she left behind and returned to the area to do humanitarian work in 2014.
