Hiring of Service Contractor Consultant – Food Processing (Jam Production)

1. Background
The Lotus Flower is implementing a vocational training program targeting women and girls to enhance their employability and entrepreneurial capacity. As part of this initiative, vocational training on food processing with a focus on jam production will be conducted. The training aims to equip participants with technical, entrepreneurial, and food safety skills to enable them to establish small-scale food processing businesses or improve employability.
2. Objective
The overall objective of this training is to design and deliver a comprehensive vocational training program on food processing, with particular emphasis on jam production. The trainer will be responsible for:
Developing a full training curriculum and materials tailored to the needs of women and girls.
Equipping participants with principles of food processing, jam production, hygiene standards, food safety, packaging, labeling, and small-scale business management skills.
3. Scope of Work / Key Responsibilities
The consultant will be required to:
Develop a training curriculum-training materials (theory and practical) on food processing and jam production, including:
Principles of food processing and preservation.
Selection and preparation of raw materials.
Hygiene, sanitation, and food safety standards.
Jam preparation techniques (fruit preservation, sugar concentration, pH, etc.).
Packaging, labeling, and storage techniques.
Prepare training manuals, handouts, and visual aids in user-friendly formats.
Deliver training sessions for the identified group of women and girls.
Provide continuous mentoring, guidance, and technical support during the training period.
Conduct pre- and post-training assessments to measure knowledge and skills gained.
Submit a final report including training outcomes, challenges, and recommendations.
4. Qualifications & Experience
The consultant should have:
Master’s or PhD degree in Food Processing, Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience in developing jam training materials and training delivery, particularly in food processing and jam production.
Strong technical knowledge of food preservation, hygiene, and safety standards.
Previous experience in curriculum development and training facilitation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate women and girls.
Experience working with humanitarian or development projects (desirable).
7. Reporting & Supervision
The trainer will report to the Project Manager and will work closely with the project team for coordination and monitoring.
