ABOUT US:
The Lotus Flower is a non-governmental organization which empowers vulnerable women and girls so that they are safe, have opportunities to learn, the tools to become financially independent and the freedom to lead change. We provide safe social spaces inside refugee camps and implement projects to help them rebuild their lives and earn a living. We run women’s centers for the IDP, refugee and host community in Kurdistan and our programs are based around pillars from the UN's 2030 Sustainable Development Goals:

Our centers implement much-needed livelihood training, language courses, computer training, mental health support, fitness and health training, and awareness sessions and advocacy on women's rights and gender-based violence. We aim to provide the foundation for women to rebuild themselves, their families, and their futures. As local implementers, we work at the grassroots level to get right into the heart of communities, listening to local needs and employing local women to implement the programs. Our fundamental belief is that women and girls are powerful drivers of change, and we provide the support they need to reach their full potential and rebuild their futures.
JOB OVERVIEW:
The Child Protection Trainer will provide capacity-building training for government, Child Protection (CP) and non-CP partners, including in the community, Child Protection mainstreaming training and capacity-building in line with Best Interest Procedures for 100 staff members (30 staff from government entities and 70 from non-CP partners and community members) from Duhok city, with both CP specialization and non-CP specialization. In addition, the trainer will also provide training and organize the materials to The Lotus Flower (TLF) CP volunteers in different subjects related to CP and life skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Design the needed Child Protection training materials in close coordination with TLF CBO capacity building officer, CBO development specialist and Child protection specialist.
· Provide Child Protection trainings for TLF Child and youth protection committees, government, CP and non-CP partners,
· Record and digitalize all training related docs with close coordination with CBO capacity building officer.
· Submit training report to the CBO capacity building officer on timely manner
QUALIFICATIONS & PREFERRED SKILLS:
· A minimum Bachelor degree in law, social work, psychology, international relations, community development with focus on children and/or youth or other related field of studies;
· At least 3 years’ experience in providing training sessions
· Minimum of 4 years of relevant I/NGOs’ experience (working in child protection, social or community development with focus on children) especially in emergency responses
· Experience in conducting child best interest assessments and determination (BIA/BID)
· Familiarity with Humanitarian Principles, Protection Principles, and internationally recognized minimum standards in Child Protection, including the Convention on the Rights of the Child
· Strong understanding of the humanitarian coordination mechanisms in KRI
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; strongly diplomatic and capable of leading on difficult mediation and negotiations
· Excellent knowledge of Child Protection
· Very creative, proactive, positive and flexible
· Very high mobility required
· Strongly motivated by humanitarian work
· Languages: Mandatory fluency in written and spoken Kurdish and Arabic.
